In response to demands for a larger amplifier we have re-engineered our original SPM5000 as our most powerful stereo amplifier to date. Using the latest low distortion amplifier circuitry with our own proprietary lateral structure dual-die MOSFETs the SPM5000 Mk II is able to drive extremely difficult loudspeaker loads with clarity and precision.
The heart of any amplifier is the power supply and in the SPM5000 Mk II we have doubled up the power reserve to include two of our 4KW high frequency switch mode supplies that include our unique dynamic coupling. This allows instantaneous power to be taken from both power rails simultaneously when the music demands, giving perfect balance and dynamic precision. This technology is complemented by a large bank of energy storage capacitors that are ‘recharged’ by the power supply many thousands of times a second giving the amplifier huge reserves and the ability to react effortlessly to any signal. Unobtrusive protection circuitry constantly monitors the amplifier status and using magnetic current sensing will shut down the SPM5000 Mk II in the event of a short circuit, or dc overload. Delivering a comfortable 560W rms into 8 Ohms the SPM5000 Mk II will be the perfect accompaniment to most larger loudspeakers and can be used for stereo or as part of a multichannel system when combined with further amplification.
Connectivity is achieved via true balanced XLR style or RCA phono inputs and two pairs of loudspeaker outputs with gold plated connections. Simplicity of operation is retained with a single power button to switch the SPM5000 Mk II out of standby with a short delay before output relays internally connect the loudspeaker outputs. Status is indicated on the faceplate by a simple power LED and a sequence of further LED’s that illuminate as the amplifier approaches clip point and maximum power delivery.
Externally the casework is machined from solid aluminium to give our trademark looks and rigid damping that eliminates vibration, and it comes as standard with the Integra leg system to further enhance the rigidity.

These include:
A new front panel design.
A new power-control and sequencing board.
A new rear connector plate that allows for third-party power connectors and the use of new beautifully made, British-designed, heavy-duty, gold-plated, insulated speaker terminals.
Refinements to the filter components of the subsequent amplifier stages, to insure greater high-speed performance whilst maintaining good overall stability.
Internal upgrades including numerous circuit board and earthing changes. These were implemented to improve high-current power flow across the units and help extend the product's lifecycle.
A reduction of the value of the emitter balancing resistors in the first long tail pair in the second intermediate stage of the amplifier. This allows for a faster overall response and improves the square signal performance of the very high frequencies of the amplifiers.
